What to Include with Your Rebate Application.

For a central air source heat pump, the rebate amount for a unit with a SEER2 efficiency rating >15.2 is $500 and the rebate amount for a unit with a SEER2 efficiency rating >17.2 is $1000. For a ductless mini-split heat pump, the rebate amount for a unit with a SEER2 efficiency rating >15.2 is $250 and the rebate amount for a unit with a SEER2 efficiency rating >17.2 is $500

You will be asked to upload the following two documents.

An itemized and dated receipt or invoice. If the appliance is professionally installed, the installation address should be included on the invoice and must match that on the utility account.
Proof of a current AHRI (Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute), or First Co. Reference number. Your installation contractor can provide you with an AHRI certificate such as the one below.

Terms and Conditions.

Participants must be City of Ames Electric Services’ customers.
Limit one rebate per dwelling.
Non-centralized systems are capped at $500.
City of Ames Electric Services will pay incentives for multi-family residences on an individual building basis. Large multi-family complexes may be subject to an incentive cap and must be approved prior to rebate application.
Equipment must be installed and operating prior to submission of application.
Rebate will not exceed 50% of installed equipment cost.
Applications must be submitted within 60 days of equipment installation and no more than six months after purchase of equipment, unless otherwise authorized.
Rebate checks will be issued to account holder in existing buildings unless otherwise established on the application. Checks will be issued to builder/general contractor in new buildings unless otherwise established on the application.
Rebates may be subject to income tax. Consult your tax advisor for more information.
Rebate forms must include full name of recipient and full installation/mailing address with suffix (e.g. Ave, St, Dr, Rd).
Smart Energy programs are subject to change or cancellation without notice.
City of Ames Electric Services reserves the right to install a metering device on new equipment to verify savings or efficiency.
Rebates are subject to availability of funds.
Applications must be completed in full, incomplete applications will delay processing and may be returned.
